Humanity

As I saw him help the old lady
cross the street
I opened wide my ears to hear
the faint breaths of Humanity.
Yes indeed.
He lives on in every kind word,
in every kind deed.
He gobbles up every good deed
and shirks from greed.
His wiry self hides in the farthest
corners of the world.
In this world of conceit and deceit
his lifeless life breeds a hope
that kindness and love shall stay alive
in the hearts and souls of
some unpolluted mortals.

Childhood

Four tiny tots walking in a line.
Innocence in their hearts,
love on their lips.
A smile pasted on their face.
Their radiance transferred to
those who walk beside them.
Their laughs, their cries
Their tears, their sighs.
So gloriously, wondrously real
So unlike their adult contemporaries
who breathe falsehood, live on deceit,
feed on greed, drink the wine of violence
and whose very existence denigrates
the name of God's greatest creation.

Time

I try to catch it as it flies past me.
I hold it in my hands but it slips past me.
I imprison it but it slithers out.
I lock it in a room but it finds a crevice.
I put it in my pocket but it finds a hole.
I tie it with ropes but it still breaks free.
Little can I do as I see it go by.
Escaping to freedom past my eye.

Dear Curiosity

Dear Curiosity may have killed the cat.
But he is my friend. I can vouch for that.
Whenever a problem gets the better of me,
my Curiosity gets the better of it in the end.
Every riddle that riddles me, every puzzle that
puzzles me is left with bruised and wounds to tend.
No questions unanswered, no mystery unsolved.
At least not with my dear friend involved.
Never at sixes and sevens have I been.
What challenge is a challenge for him
remains to be seen.

The desert called Life

I sit alone just waiting and waiting
for an elusive morsel of Joy .
For a ray of light in my dreary Life,
so desolate and barren.
I wish I could give my Life some meaning.
I wish I could escape the tangles of sorrow.
Nothing to do, nothing to say.
No friend by my side, no hope of escape.
I live on and on, just praying and praying
For an exit from my prison-like Life.
But I know that prayers are just prayers
till they are answered by the Lord above.
So I continue my endless wait for some joy,
For some light in the darkness of my Life.
My fate is to live on and endure till the Lord
blesses me with an escape or with Death.

Success and failure

Success has many fathers
but failure is always
the illegitimate son.
Success is the smart
extrovert liked by everyone,
disliked by none.
Failure is the shy introvert
disliked by everybody,
liked by none.
Success is a nectar that is
the natural outcome of
hard work.
Failuer is a teacher who
teaches the way
to success.

The words came halting through

Impressed by the loquacity
of my partners I opened my
mouth to speak but the
words came halting through.
Their sagacity and wit
inspired me on but my
tongue refused to move.
I wished to put forth
my point of view but
their eloquence received
only my silent approval.
I attempted to put together
a few coherent words
but their length frightened
my vocal orifice and it denied
them exit.
Their conversation ended and
they dispersed.
I was left alone to mourn
my disabilities.
Thus,you dear friend,can easily
see I strained every sinew
to convey my view but the
words came halting through-the
last few oozings of lava
from a dead volcano.

Another boring day

Another boring weekend. I just wonder while watching the whole election drama whether we as voters have any realistic choices.
